Frequently asked questions
Matches, arenas, your account and purchases — answered in plain language.
Is Sudoku Battle free?
Yes. The game is free to play, with an occasional ad after a match result. Two optional purchases exist: a yearly subscription that removes every ad and opens every arena, and arena passes that each open one harder arena early.
Which devices and languages?
Sudoku Battle is available for iPhone, on iOS 17 or later, in 17 languages — pick yours in Profile → Language. It needs an internet connection for ranked matches and friend challenges.
How does a match work?
You and your opponent get the same puzzle at the same time. Correct digits stay; the first player to complete the grid wins. If the arena’s time limit runs out first, the player with the most correct cells wins, then the one with the fewest mistakes; otherwise it’s a draw.
What happens when I place a wrong digit?
It is rejected and counts as a mistake, and your input locks for a few seconds. Three mistakes and you lose the match. In practice mistakes are counted too, but they never end the game.
What if my connection drops during a match?
You have 20 seconds to reconnect, and the match clock keeps running. Reopening the app takes you straight back into the match. If you don’t make it back in time, the match counts as a loss.
Can I pause or leave a match?
Matches can’t be paused. You can quit after confirming, but quitting counts as a loss. If you want to stop and come back later, play a practice game instead — it saves your progress.
How do points, levels and arenas work?
Ranked wins earn points and losses cost some. Fill your level’s bar to level up; lose at zero points and you drop a level. There are 25 levels across five arenas — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond — and each arena’s puzzles give fewer clues.
What is an arena pass?
A one-time purchase that opens one arena above yours for good. You can practise there, challenge friends there and play ranked there, where wins are worth more points. Each pass is shown in the Shop only while its arena is still locked for you.
How do I play with a friend?
Friends need a free account (add an email in the Social or Profile tab). In the Social tab, find your friend by username or share your friend link, then challenge them in any arena you have unlocked, and send the challenge as a link or a code. Friend challenges don’t change your points or rank.
Do I need an account?
Not to play. You start as a guest straight away, with ranked matches and practice. Create a free account (an email and password, in the Profile tab) to add friends and challenge them, and to keep your progress if you change or lose your iPhone.
How do I remove the ads?
Subscribe in the Shop tab. It’s a yearly subscription that removes every ad and opens every arena, and renews automatically until you cancel it. Already subscribed on another device? Tap “Restore purchases” in the Shop.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open your iPhone’s Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Sudoku Battle. You keep ad-free play until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel it.
Why does the app ask about tracking and ads?
The ads keep the game free. Where the law requires it we ask for your consent, and iOS asks whether apps may track you. You can say no and play exactly the same game — the ads just won’t be personalised. You can change your choice in Profile → Settings → Privacy options.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Profile → Account → Delete account. If your account has an email, you can also delete it on our website with a code sent to that email. Deletion is permanent.
